How to Install Nessus on Backtrack 5 r1

1. Open the terminal and type

root@bt:~# apt-get install nessus
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree

 - Please run /opt/nessus/sbin/nessus-adduser to add a user
 - Register your Nessus scanner at http://www.nessus.org/register/ to obtain
   all the newest plugins
 - You can start nessusd by typing /etc/init.d/nessusd start

2. do register first, klik http://www.nessus.org/register/ to obtain
   all the newest plugins


















3. Choose the option Nessus at Home (right)
4. Then will appear subscription aggrement, click aggree



















5. FIll out the following form

















6. Cek your email, get the activation code for Linux and solaris user
7. Type on terminal

root@bt:~# /opt/nessus/bin/nessus-fetch --register CF8B-0580-D4A9-AF81-E75B


Your activation code has been registered properly - thank you.
Now fetching the newest plugin set from plugins.nessus.org...
Your Nessus installation is now up-to-date.
If auto_update is set to 'yes' in nessusd.conf, Nessus will
update the plugins by itself.


8. Run nessus

root@bt:~# /etc/init.d/nessusd start

9. Add user. This user will be the administrator user, you can add other type of user later
root@bt:~# /opt/nessus/sbin/nessus-adduser

fill in login username and password

10. Open your browser and enter https://localhost:8834/
you may login to nessus now.


















11. Login using the username and password that has been in Add
